Arsenal to reward midfielder with new long-term contract?
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to hand a new contract to midfielder Matteo Guendouzi after watching him impress during his debut season.
The Frenchman was a relatively unknown when he joined from Lorient last summer but he has gone onto make 33 appearances in the recently-concluded Premier League campaign.
Guendouzi presently has three years remaining on his current £40,000-a-week but The Sun claims that the club are prepared to nearly double his wages with a £75,000 a week package.
Arsenal ended the Premier League season in the fifth position after a poor conclusion to the season where they managed just one win from the final five matches.
Owing to this, the Gunners face the compulsion to win the Europa League final against Chelsea this month, if they are to make the elite competition next term.
Guendouzi has been a regular substitute when it comes to the latter stages of the Europa League and he is likely to assume a similar role against the Blues towards the end of the month.
