Liverpool legend urges club to sign Barcelona star
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged the club to make a move to re-sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona during this summer's transfer window.
The Brazilian left the Reds to join the Blaugrana for an initial £105m in January 2018 but he has since struggled to make a strong impression on their supporters.
In the ongoing league campaign, he has managed a meagre tally of just five goals and two assists and this has presented doubts over his future ahead of the season's conclusion.
Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, Carragher has said that the Reds may not actively pursue their former player but he should remain an option, should the Blaugrana aim to cut their losses on the playmaker.
"I wouldn't say I would be actively going to get him, but if there was a possibility of bringing Coutinho back for decent money, and Barca wanted to cut their losses a little bit because it hasn't worked out, then I'd do that," he said.
Barcelona are widely being fancied to secure the signature of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer and the Frenchman's potential arrival may pave the way for Coutinho's exit as they seek to balance their books.
