Danny Welbeck to swap Arsenal for Everton?
Out of contract attacker, Danny Welbeck looks set to make a move to another Premier League side once his contract with Arsenal expires on June 1st, and it is understood that Everton is the new favourites to secure the England international's signature. Welbeck has admitted that he is interested in a transfer to Goodison Park in the past.
Welbeck played in 14 games for Arsenal this season, scoring five goals, but it would not be enough to persuade the striker to stay at the club after a miserable injury record at the Emirates and the forward will now depart for pastures new.
According to the Standard, Everton are in pole position to secure a transfer for Welbeck and are on the cusp of making an announcement with regards to the former Man Utd striker's acquisition.
Southampton were amongst those interested, whilst there also appeared to be some contact from Spanish clubs Real Betis and Valencia, however, the striker would apparently prefer to stay in England for the time being.
Should Welbeck decide to move to Goodison Park, he will link up with his former Gunners teammate Theo Walcott.
