Manchester United join Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign La Liga playmaker

Lo Celso on United, Spurs radar

Manchester United have reportedly joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign midfielder Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis this summer.

The 23-year-old recently sealed a permanent move to Betis from Paris Saint-Germain after contributing 16 goals and five assists on loan during the 2018/19 season.

Despite this, the speculation over the Argentine's future has refused to cease, and Marca suggests that both United and Spurs could tussle for the playmaker's signature this summer.

Spurs have strongly been associated with the 23-year-old amid the uncertain future of Christian Eriksen but they could face stiff competition from United, who are aiming to add more creativity in their ranks.

Lo Celso currently has a £88m release clause on his contract but reports indicate that he could be prised away from the Benito Villamarin for around £53m.

Lo Celso, who has represented Argentina on 12 occasions, previously had a difficult time with Paris Saint-Germain where he managed just six goals from 54 appearances.
