Atletico defeat Sevilla
Atletico Madrid picked up an excellent away victory against Sevilla to dent their Champions League hopes. Atletico won thanks to goals from Maxi Rodriguez and Sergio Aguero to see off Sevilla.
Javier Aguirre's side took the lead in the first half through Maxi Rodriguez's deflected strike, but were pegged back shortly after the break when Diego Capel equalised for Sevilla.
However, Sergio Aguero quickly restored Atletico's lead and the visitors held on for an important victory as Sevilla was reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Enzo Maresca.
Atletico went ahead as Simao's cross went past Aguero, allowing Maxi to pop up at the far post and slot - via a helpful deflection - a low drive into the bottom corner to put the visitors in front.
After half time Abbiati could only parry Frederic Kanoute's low shot into the path of the advancing Capel and the speedy winger tapped home to bring the home side back on level terms.
Atletico soon hit back when Aguero restored the visitors' lead with a close-range finish in the 57th minute.
