Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to sign 21-year-old midfielder
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told Ed Woodward to make an approach to sign midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.
The Red Devils have already landed the signatures of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to strengthen the attacking and defensive positions respectively and they are now aiming to pursue a central midfielder with Ander Herrera having parted ways with the club.
According to The Star, Ole is understood to have been impressed with the progress of Longstaff during his debut campaign with the Magpies and has encouraged Woodward to seal the deal for the 21-year-old.
The Magpies are understood to want a sum of around £25m for the midfielder but United are hoping to land the youngster with an initial £15m package which may include several performance-based bonuses.
Longstaff has made just eight Premier League starts for the Magpies to date. He is currently recovering from a knee injury sustained during the backend of the previous campaign.
