Spurs land Ndombele on a club-record move

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a club-record fee in the region of £53.8m.

The midfielder had attracted interest from a whole host of elite European clubs this summer but Spurs have eventually won the race to lure him from the Groupama Stadium.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyonnais. The France international central midfielder has signed a contract with the club until 2025." a statement read on their website.

The north London side have parted with a sum of around £53.8m for the France international but the deal could potentially rise to £64m with the performance-based add-ons considered.

The Frenchman becomes the club's second signing of the summer transfer window with Jack Clarke joining the club earlier in the day from Championship side Leeds United.

The 18-year-old has, however, been loaned back to the Peacocks for the 2019/2020 campaign as they seek to make the push for Premier League promotion after more than two decades.
