United plan Pogba contract talks

Manchester United are reportedly planning to open contract negotiations with Paul Pogba as they seek to commit the midfielder to a fresh long-term deal.

The Frenchman has already made it clear that he wants a fresh challenge away from the club but so far, there have been no clubs willing to match United's £172m asking price.

According to Evening Standard, the Red Devils are now eager to extend the stay of the France international, considering he remains an integral part of the team's plans.

Pogba currently has two years remaining on his contract with the Mancunian giants but the club have the additional option of extending his deal for another 12 months.

Still, the Red Devils appear keen on rewarding the Frenchman with a fresh deal of around £350,000-a-week such that they can cease the midfielder's thoughts of parting ways with the side.

Real Madrid are currently regarded as the favourites to land the former Juventus man but they are unlikely to match the asking price from United unless they can accumulate significant funds from player sales.
