Manchester United fail with late bid to sign Everton midfielder
Manchester United are understood to have failed with a late attempt to hijack Paris Saint-Germain's deal for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye.
The Senegal international had been close to joining the French champions in January and it is reported that they have now agreed on a deal worth £28m to secure his signature.
According to L'Equipe, the Toffees had recently delayed the midfielder's potential move to Parc des Princes after receiving a late offer from the Red Devils.
However, Gueye is said to have declined the interest, given he has been determined to join Les Parisiens, where he is expected to pen a five-year contract.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on pursuing a central midfielder this summer but so far, there has been no success with failed moves for Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes.
Newcastle United are determined to keep hold of Longstaff for the forthcoming season. On the other hand, United have yet to meet the £70m price tag for Fernandes.
