Liverpool make their first senior signing of the summer
Liverpool have made their first senior signing of the transfer window with former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian joining them on a free transfer.
The Reds sanctioned the sale of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to Belgian side Club Brugge for an initial £6.4m earlier in the day and they have announced an instant replacement in the form of Adrian.
"I'm very ambitious, I come here to try to win everything, to try to push Ali from the first minute and to make us better. Obviously I want to win titles. I come here to fight for all the competitions," he told the club's official website.
Adrian joins the European champions after a six-year spell in east London, where he made exactly 150 appearances for West Ham United across all competitions.
The Spaniard was released from the Hammers at the expiry of his contract this summer and he now has the chance to feature for the Reds in the Cup competitions, where manager Jurgen Klopp may decide to rest first-choice shot-stopper Alisson.
Aside from Adrian, the Reds have recruited a couple of young players in the form of Harvey Elliot and Sepp van den Burg, but both are expected to wait for a while before breaking into the first-team.
