Unai Emery: we will only sign players who improve Arsenal

Unai Emery news

Arsenal transfer business not done yet?

Arsenal manager Unai Emery told reporters after yesterday's 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Joan Gamper trophy pre-season friendly that the club would only seek to sign players that will improve the club's squad. An impressive batch of new signings have boosted the Gunners' squad ahead of the new campaign.

Dani Ceballos, William Saliba and Nicolas Pepe are amongst the players that arrive at the Emirates, much to the delight of Arsenal fans.

Unai Emery said that targets are still being worked on, telling reporters: “Only if we can sign a player who really, really can improve our squad, then we are going to do that.

“If not, then not. We have good competitive players to achieve or try to achieve our target this season and we are going to be looking at something if we can sign someone, but with this idea.

“Only, and only, if we can improve.”

Arsenal are hopeful that a deal for Kieran Tierney can be completed before the transfer deadline window but are also linked with a surprise move for Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.
