Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has clarified that Manchester United were nowhere close to signing Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils were linked with a potential club-record move for the England international last summer with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aiming to strengthen the squad with younger players with pedigree.

However, no agreement was reached between the clubs for the highly-rated winger and Zorc has now confirmed that his team refused to hold a meeting with the Red Devils for Sancho.

"Not close at all. We didn't talk to them. They were asking us for a meeting. Sancho is not for sale," he was quoted as saying by Viasport.

Sancho has been a revelation for Dortmund over the past 18 months and he has started the current campaign in fine form with two goals and four assists from just four league appearances.

He has also excelled with the England national side and recently bagged his first two goals for the Three Lions during the 5-3 triumph over Kosovo in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
