Chelsea lining up long-term deal for highly-rated defender
Chelsea are reportedly keen on committing young graduate Fikayo Tomori to a new long-term contract following his impressive performances at the start of the season.
The centre-back was initially touted to go out on loan with Everton for the campaign but the move was blocked after David Luiz made a shock move to Arsenal before the Premier League transfer deadline.
Thereafter, Tomori was fancied to perform the back-up role for the central defensive duties but he has recently stepped up to the plate with strong performances against Wolves and Liverpool from the starting XI.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are keen to reward the defender for his impressive showing at the beginning of the season and are prepared to discuss a fresh five-year contract.
The former Derby County loanee has less than two years remaining on his current deal but he seems on course to pen an extension similarly to other young graduates including Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
