United open to permanent Henderson sale

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to part ways with goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a permanent deal, should any club meet their £20m valuation for the Englishman.

Henderson is currently in his second successive season on loan with Sheffield United after helping them seal promotion from the Championship last term.

According to The Sun, Henderson's prospects of breaking into the United first-team appear slim following David de Gea's decision to sign a new long-term deal with the club.

United have a reliable back-up goalkeeper in the form of Sergio Romero and reports indicate that a £20m fee could be sufficient to pursue Henderson on a permanent basis.

Henderson only signed a fresh contract with the Red Devils last summer but that may be primarily focused on preserving his transfer value following his impressive progress with Sheffield.

The 22-year-old recently made a goalkeeping blunder which contributed to Sheffield's close 1-0 defeat at Liverpool at Bramall Lane. The Blades are currently 12th on the table with eight points on the board.
