Lampard delighted with Mount's impact

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped special praise on Mason Mount following the club's 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.

Mount only made his debut for the Blues in the season opener but he has since been consistent with his performances and become an undisputed starter in the attack.

Against Brighton, Mount did not contribute a goal or an assist but he was the catalyst towards creating a number of scoring situations and earned the penalty which broke the deadlock.

Speaking after the match, Lampard praised the all-round game of Mount and admitted that he did not expect the midfielder to perform at this level, he told BBC Sport:

"The all-round game and quality of Mason. He is the cataylst for us getting in front with his sharpness. He was brilliant for me at Derby. I did not expect this level but he he is improving daily."

With the victory, the Blues are on 11 points after the opening seven league games and this sees them within goal difference off the Champions League positions.

They return to Champions League action in midweek with an away game against Lille and Lampard will be hoping for a positive result after the Blues previously lost to Valencia in the group stage opener.
