Frank Lampard confirms midfielder injury concern ahead of Lille clash
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that the club need to be careful with the handling of midfielder N'Golo Kante and he could miss the forthcoming Champions League clash against Lille on the road.
The Frenchman has been hampered with regular injury concerns since the backend of the previous season and he was recently left out of the Brighton & Hove Albion game with a minor hamstring issue.
Lampard highlighted after the game that Kante could be fit for the midweek European outing against Lille but he seems to have backtracked on the comments by hinting that Kante may need more time to make a comeback.
"We are just careful and it is my duty to work with him. The medical team are working so hard with him. With N’Golo, when we do get him to where we want him to be, we will be stronger with him,” he told via Goal.com.
Since the close of last season, Kante has been hampered by knee, ankle and hamstring injuries and Lampard is unlikely to take another risk with the midfielder unless he has completely recovered from his concerns.
Chelsea are currently sixth in the league table but they could be leapfrogged by either Arsenal or Manchester United tonight. They will be in action against Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday.
