Longstaff, Dembele on United radar

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to go on a winter spending spree with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on pursuing a new midfielder and centre-forward.

The Red Devils have made an average start to the season with just nine points from the opening seven games and Solskjaer has recently admitted that his team would be in the market for a new striker in the New Year.

According to The Star, the Red Devils are planning a £50m swoop for Lyon's Moussa Dembele in January as they seek to cover up for the recent departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez (on loan) to Inter Milan.

Elsewhere, it is indicated that a new central midfielder is also on the manager's wishlist and Solskjaer wants the club to revive their interest in Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff.

The Magpies graduate was regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer but United were reluctant to meet the £40m price tag on the player's head.

They are, however, prepared to meet the valuation this winter with the future of Nemanja Matic hanging in the balance. The Serbian has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan.
