Arsenal open contract talks with Aubameyang

Arsenal have reportedly opened discussions with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a new long-term deal.

The Gabon international has been a revelation for the Gunners since arriving from Borussia Dortmund last year and he has already bagged 49 goals across all competitions.

Out of those, he has netted eight goals from as many appearances this term and The Mail claims that the Gunners have kickstarted talks over a contract renewal.

Aubameyang currently has less than two years remaining on his existing deal with the Gunners and the club have previously made it clear that any player entering the final year of his contract is likely to be sold.

The ex-Milan man is presently on a weekly wage package of around £200,000-a-week and reports indicate that the marksman will be rewarded with a 50 percent salary increase upon penning an extension.

Aubameyang is likely to feature for the Gunners on Thursday night when they entertain Standard Liege in the Europa League. The striker has scored or assisted in every game this campaign.
