Maddison wanted by Man United

Manchester United are reportedly planning to monitor the performances of midfielder James Maddison through the season before lodging an approach for his services.

The 22-year-old has been a huge hit since joining the Foxes from Norwich City last season and he has already contributed nine goals and nine assists across all competitions.

According to Evening Standard, the Red Devils are keen on recruiting a creative midfielder in their ranks and Maddison has been earmarked as the prime candidate.

It is added that the club are prepared to track his proceedings over the course of the current campaign and they could spend as much as £80m to lure him from the King Power Stadium next summer.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has placed the emphasis on pursuing young British talents and the likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire were recruited prior to the current season.

Each of those players have made a key impact in the team's performances but there are still a number of positions including the attacking midfield, where they need to bolster to improve their title prospects in the future.
