'Its unacceptable', David de Gea reacts after Man United's defeat to Newcastle United
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has acknowledged that the club are going through a difficult time in the Premier League but the recent result against Newcastle United is still unacceptable.
The Red Devils struggled to find the breakthrough against the Magpies for most of Sunday's meeting and they were eventually made to pay the price with Matthew Longstaff scoring on his league debut.
Speaking after the game, De Gea apologised to the club's supporters and said that the goal should not have happened, he told Sky Sports: “It is not acceptable, not just this game but the whole season.
"Sorry to the fans. It is the most difficult time since I have been here. I don’t know what is happening. We cannot even score one goal in two games. It's unacceptable."
With the defeat, United see themselves 12th in the standings and they are just two points off the relegation zone. They have a tough challenge after the international break as they entertain arch-rivals and league leaders Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Jurgen Klopp's side have made the perfect start to the season after the opening eight games and they are currently eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
