Maddison on Real radar

Manchester United target James Maddison has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer option for Real Madrid amid his impressive performances for Leicester City over the past 16 months.

The 22-year-old has been one of the Foxes' most consistent performers since his move from Norwich City last year and he has already amassed 10 goals and nine assists while operating in the number 10 position.

Over the past few weeks, it has been indicated that United could be the next destination for the England Under-21 international but Marca claims that Los Blancos could come up with a bid of their own for the playmaker.

The 13-time European champions are currently going through a transitional phase and it is claimed that Maddison has been identified as a suitable target for the creative midfield role.

Maddison currently has under four years remaining on his current contract with the Foxes and the east Midlands outfit are bound to demand fees of around £80m for his future sale.

There has recently been speculation that Maddison could leave the Foxes in January but that would come as a surprise, given the club have generally declined to do business at the midway stage of a campaign.
