Moussa Dembele topping United's winter shortlist

Manchester United have reportedly identified Lyon's Moussa Dembele as the prime transfer target for the 2020 January transfer window.

The Red Devils decided to part ways with Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku over the summer and this has left them with limited options in the centre-forward department.

Anthony Martial has struggled with a hamstring concern since the end of August and that has left the Red Devils with just Marcus Rashford as the senior striking option.

The England international did make a strong beginning to the campaign with a brace against Chelsea but he has since struggled to score from open play and has bagged just one goal from the penalty spot.

According to The Mail, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to recruit a new striker in January and Dembele has been earmarked as the leading target for the New Year.

Dembele has made a positive start to the campaign with six goals from just 10 appearances but he has recently found himself starting from the bench for Les Gones.

However, his position could change with the appointment of Rudi Garcia, who has recently replaced Sylvinho as the new head coach. United may require a bid of at least £50m to tempt Les Gones into a sale.
