Chelsea suffer fresh injury concern with key defender
Chelsea have reportedly received a fresh injury concern with Andreas Christensen sustaining a groin problem on international duty with Denmark.
The Dane has been a regular at the heart of the Blues defence this term but it appears that he could be doubtful for next weekend's league clash against Newcastle United.
According to Football.London, the centre-back was substituted during the closing stages of the Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland with a groin injury but the extent of the setback remains unclear.
The Blues have been without Antonio Rudiger for most of the opening phase of the campaign but the German is close to making an injury comeback after returning to regular training.
Should Christensen remain sidelined, the Blues will have just two regular centre-backs in the form of Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori but Cesar Azpilicueta and young graduate Marc Guehi can fill in the position, if required.
Chelsea are presently fifth in the Premier League standings and they are separated from the top four on only goal difference. A victory over the Magpies may see them propel into the Champions League places, should the other results go their way.
