Chelsea suffer another injury blow on international duty

Kovacic suffers injury on international duty

Chelsea have suffered a fresh injury concern on international duty with Mateo Kovacic substituted during the midway stage of the European qualifier for Croatia against Wales.

The midfielder has been one of the Blues' standout performers this term and he has regularly started in the centre of the park with N'Golo Kante struggling with multiple niggles.

Kante only recently suffered an adductor problem on international duty with France and it is now claimed that Kovacic has likewise suffered an injury setback which contributed towards his mid-game substitution against Wales.

Kante has provided a boost by returning to individual training with France but it is unclear whether he will feature against Turkey in tonight's European qualifier at the Stade de France.

Apart from the duo, Andreas Christensen and Reece James are the other first-team stars, who have sustained injuries during the international break and the latter has already returned to the Cobham training base for further treatment.
