Mesut Ozil provides fresh update on his Arsenal future

Ozil says he is going nowhere amid speculation

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has said that he has no ambition of parting ways with the north London side prior to the expiry of his contract.

The German has found gametime hard to come by under Unai Emery this term and he has managed just one appearance in the Premier League.

As such, there has been speculation that the attacker could be offloaded at the turn of the year but he has now come out to dismiss the ongoing gossip.

In an interview with The Athletic, Ozil said that he has a Gunners contract until 2021 and he is aiming to honour the remaining length of the deal.

He told: "I didn't want to stay for just one or two more years, I wanted to commit my future to Arsenal and the club wanted me to do the same.

"You can go through difficult times, like this, but that is no reason to run away and I'm not going to. I'm here until at least 2021."

Ozil has been excluded from the past three matchday squads by Emery but he is hopeful of making a comeback during the upcoming trip to Sheffield United.

The Gunners have made a positive beginning to the season with 15 points from the opening eight games and they are presently third in the standings.
