Manchester United edging closer to massive deal for Real Madrid playmaker

According to various reports in Spain, Manchester United are closing in on a £58m deal for midfielder Isco. The Spaniard has had a mixed career at Madrid, not being given the opportunities to shine despite his solid performances.

Spanish outlet AS now reports that Isco has decided to make the next move of his career and has picked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United as his ideal destination. They further indicate that a move could be made as early as January.

Manchester United are in dire need of a potent playmaker given their struggles in front of goal. This could prompt them to push a deal through in January despite interest from other clubs in his services. Solskjaer's side could do with the added creative ability and if Isco were to move, he would go a long way towards addressing the issues in this Manchester United side.

During his time at Madrid, Isco has won every trophy available with four Champions League titles, a La Liga title, domestic cups and the UEFA Super Cup. Despite this, he has not been able to cement a place in the side despite Modric's lack of form and a significant lack of options otherwise.
