Giggs wants Man United to sign a creative player

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has said that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done a credible job at Old Trafford and the board need to back him with additional funds to transform the club's fortunes.

The Red Devils have made a mixed beginning to the current campaign and they are presently in the seventh spot in the league with a seven-point deficit to the top four.

Speaking to the United Stand, the Wales head coach said that Solskjaer should be credited for the summer transfer business with Daniel James, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka making a quick impact with the side.

He added that the hierarchy need to continue backing the Norwegian with funds over the next few transfer windows and they are lacking the creative player to make the difference on the playing field.

"We need to bring quality in. Ole has brought three in who are all doing well. His dealings have been very good so far," he was quoted as saying in a United Stand interview with Mark Goldbridge.

"Give him the money other managers have had to get Manchester United players. Get another five or six players like that in, we will see a real difference. They are missing that creative player."

United are scheduled to face Chelsea away from home in the fourth round of the League Cup and they can expect a testing challenge with the Blues going through the best phase of their season.

The west London giants have won each of their previous seven games in all competitions and they have scored 19 goals in this period compared to United's meagre tally of seven.
