Manchester United have reportedly been given the green light to sign Emre Can with Juventus prepared to sanction his sale at the turn of the year.

The Germany international only joined the Bianconeri on a free transfer last year but he finds himself on the fringes of the first-team squad under Maurizio Sarri.

According to Tuttosport, Can will be permitted to head through the exit door in January after having managed just four appearances since the beginning of the campaign.

It is added that the Red Devils are among the favourites to sign the former Liverpool man but they will still need to meet the Bianconeri's £35m price tag for the midfielder.

United have sold the likes of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini over the past year and they are presently short in the midfield with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic out injured.

Scott McTominay and Fred have impressed in the centre of the park in recent games but there is not much backup behind. Young graduate James Garner has been used in recent times.
