Nigel Winterburn suggests when Unai Emery could be sacked
Former Arsenal star Nigel Winterburn believes Unai Emery could be sacked by the Gunners at the end of the season, should they fail to secure Champions League football.
The north London giants made a promising start to the current campaign and they were placed third on the table prior to the previous international break.
However, they have since struggled for form across all competitions and back-to-back winless games in the top-flight has dropped them four points behind the Champions League positions.
In a report covered by The Star, Winterburn said that Emery was backed with the funds to make squad changes over the summer and the failure to meet the top four expectations could get him sacked at the end of the campaign.
"He's had significant funds this season to make those changes. He's brought in younger players which I agree with. But I would think that if Arsenal don't get into the top four there will be a review," he told.
Arsenal were recently eliminated from the League Cup on penalties to Liverpool in the fourth round. The game ended 5-5 in normal time with both Divock Origi and Gabriel Martinelli bagging braces.
