Bayern turn down Wenger

Bayern Munich have reportedly turned down the chance to recruit former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as their new head coach.

The Frenchman has been out of duty since leaving the Gunners in May 2018 but he had recently been fancied to succeed Niko Kovac at Bayern.

However, according to Bild, that won't be the case with Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rejecting the prospect after a brief discussion with the 70-year-old.

It is added that Hansi Flick will continue to remain in temporary charge of Bayern for the rest of the campaign thus providing the club with sufficient time to pursue a permanent manager.

Aside from Wenger, Jose Mourinho has also been heavily linked with the head coach vacancy at Bayern but the Bavarian giants seem prepared to stick with Flick at the current point of time.

Bayern are currently fourth in the league standings with a four-point deficit to leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. They are scheduled to face Borussia Dortmund at home this weekend.
