Jose Mourinho wants top Manchester United target in January
Jose Mourinho wants top Manchester United target in January
Newly-appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho wants to land Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Portugal international had been linked with both Manchester United and Spurs during the summer and the latter even failed with a transfer bid before the deadline.
According to The Independent, Mourinho has already made his intentions clear for the forthcoming transfer window and he has earmarked Fernandes as the prime transfer target.
The north London giants were able to agree on an initial £48m fee for Fernandes last summer but they presented Sporting with unacceptable add-ons which included winning the Champions League and Premier League.
Sporting are expected to demand around £64m for Fernandes at the turn of the year and it remains to be seen whether Spurs can find the breakthrough in January with a much better proposal.
Fernandes has bagged nine goals and six assists for Sporting in all competitions this term. He has mostly operated in the number 10 position for the Lisbon-based outfit.
