Chelsea have reportedly identified CSKA Moscow forward Fedor Chalov as a probable transfer option in January, if they are able to overcome their transfer ban.

The Blues are currently well stocked in the final third but they could be looking at a replacement for Olivier Giroud, who could head through the exit door due to his lack of playing time.

According to Sky Sports News, the Blues are said to be planning an approach for Chalov, whose style of play has been admired by club owner Roman Abramovich.

The 21-year-old has netted five goals and a further two assists for CSKA this season and he has been tipped to lead the line for the Russian national side in the long run.

Frank Lampard's side are presently restricted from registering any new players due to their ban but they are hopeful of overturning the same and are currently awaiting the verdict of their recent appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
