Man United players backed Solskjaer before Spurs game

A number of Manchester United player are said to have supported Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prior to the club's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.

The Red Devils recently drew two Premier League games on the bounce and that led to calls that Solskjaer should be sacked from the helm.

However, the Norwegian managed to redeem himself by guiding United to a 2-1 win over Spurs in midweek and he has been able to sustain the confidence of the board in his credentials by doing so.

According to The Times, Solskjaer's position came under scrutiny before the Spurs game but he received the support from a number of senior players within the United squad.

United are currently eight points adrift of Chelsea, who are occupying the final Champions League qualification place. They have a tough challenge against Manchester City on the road this weekend.

Solskjaer's place remains secure for the moment but a heavy defeat against the Cityzens could once again lead to question marks whether he is the right man to guide the club forward.
