Chelsea reportedly sent scouts to monitor the performance of Timo Werner during RB Leipzig's 2-2 draw against Lyon in the Champions League.

The Germany international has been a standout performer for the German side since their promotion to the top-flight and in the current season, he has notched 20 goals from just 22 games.

In recent weeks, the Blues have been fancied to make a possible winter approach for the striker and according to The Mail, talent-spotters from the west London side were in attendance to watch Werner play.

Werner converted a penalty in the opening half of the Champions League clash against Lyon but that was not sufficient to hand Leipzig with the victory as Les Gones came from two goals down to register a draw.

Aside from Werner, the Blues are also deemed to have watched Moussa Dembele in action. The Frenchman played through the entire 90 minutes of the Lyon's clash as they progressed to the knockouts with the draw.
