Chelsea receive major injury boost on midfielder

Ruben Loftus news

Loftus-Cheek could make Chelsea comeback next month

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has confirmed that he has returned to individual training on grass and he could return to first-team action in the space of one month.

The England international has been sidelined since the final weeks of the previous campaign with an Achilles injury but he appears on course to make his comeback by the end of January.

Speaking to Copa90, Loftus-Cheek confirmed that he has had a couple of setbacks during his recovery from the Achilles problem but he is hopeful of returning to the playing field in just over four weeks' time.

"It’s alright, it’s been a long journey. Since I done it I’m just grinding it out and I’ve had a few setbacks which is normal when you’ve had a big injury. I’m close now anyway. If everything goes well, I’d say just over a month,” he told.

Loftus-Cheek was initially fancied to return to action by the end of November but a few unexpected setbacks have meant that his recovery has slowed down by a couple of months.
