Atletico Madrid to swoop for Manchester United midfielder?

Atletico Madrid have reportedly earmarked Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic as a potential signing for the January transfer window.

The Serbia intenational has fallen down the pecking order at the Red Devils this term and he has managed just six starts in all competitions for the club.

According to AS, Matic is likely to head through the exit door next month and he has plenty of offers from the Serie A including Inter Milan.

However, Atleti are also keeping tabs on his situation and it is claimed that Diego Simeone wants more competition at the heart of the midfield.

Matic has six months remaining on his existing deal with the Red Devils but the club have the option to extend his contract for another year.

As a result, they are said to demand a fee of £20m for his sale next month and it remains to be seen whether a deal is struck in the New Year.
