Chelsea want Russian striker as Moussa Dembele alternative?
Chelsea are reportedly plotting a move for CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov as they are unlikely to strike a deal for Lyon ace Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has been identified as the prime target for manager Frank Lampard but the club's opening £34m bid has been quickly rejected by Les Gones.
The French side are adamant that the forward won't be sold during mid-season and it now seems that the Blues are willing to look elsewhere.
As per Standard Sport, Chalov is the other forward target on their wishlist and he is said to be a more cost effective option when compared to Dembele.
The Russian has netted a combined 20 goals over the past 18 months for CSKA and the Blues believe he has the potential to succeed in the Premier League.
Still, he may not come on the cheap, considering Crystal Palace failed with an offer worth £23m when they made their approach during last summer's transfer window.
Chelsea are expected to part ways with Olivier Giroud this month. Michy Batshuayi has also been tipped for a loan exit with Aston Villa interested.
