Bayern sign Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel on a free transfer
According to Daily Mail, Bayern Munich have signed Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel on a free transfer.
The German shot-stopper has agreed to a five year deal with the Bavarians and is set to join them in the summer. His contract with Schalke runs until the end of this season.
Nubel is one of the brightest prospects in Europe and also earlier had his name on the transfer radar of European giants like Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan.
He had his breakthrough during the second phase of last season after being made Schalke’s first choice keeper. Nubel was made the club's captain by the German manager David Wagner at the start of this season.
The 23-year-old is long considered by Bayern as the successor to Manuel Neuer, whose contract will expire in 2021. Earlier, Neuer stated that he would continue to fight for his place.
Nubel has now followed the footsteps of his compatriot Neuer, who was also raised through the youth ranks of Schalke.
