Chelsea are prepared to offer Olivier Giroud in a part-exchange move to sign Moussa Dembele from Lyon this month.

The west London giants are desperately looking for a strong competitor to Tammy Abraham for the centre-forward role and they are deemed to have already failed with a £34m bid for Dembele.

Les Gones have recently released a statement with their ambition to keep hold of Dembele until the summer but The Sun claims that Frank Lampard's side are still in the running to sign the Frenchman.

Furthermore, it is suggested that they are prepared to make a renewed £40m bid alongside Giroud as a makeweight to convince Les Gones into sanctioning Dembele's transfer.

Dembele has netted 10 times in the French Ligue 1 this campaign and he has emerged as a key player with the season-ending injury for Dutch attacker Memphis Depay.

They are said to be keen on signing Giroud from the Blues but it remains to be seen whether they are willing to accept the proposal made by the Europa League holders.
