Cutrone departs Wolves to return to Serie A
Italian striker Patrick Cutrone’s Premier League adventure has come to an abrupt end, with the 22-year-old set to return to his homeland to join Fiorentina. Italian sports journal Corriere dello Sport has revealed that Cutrone, who is believed to have become frustrated at the lack of playing time granted to him by Wolverhampton Wanderers, will undergo a medical later today (Friday) before completing a move back to Serie A.
Cutrone, who arrived at Molyneux last summer from AC Milan for around £16M, has only played 291 minutes of Premier League football this term scoring two goals, with boss Nuno Espirito Santo preferring to save him for the Europa League. La Viola President Rocco Commisso told reporters that; “This morning he will have his medical and if everything goes smoothly, this will be one of my best investments since I took over at the club.”
Fiorentina recently parted company with coach Vincenzo Montella appointing Giuseppe Iachini as his replacement after a woeful start to the season. La Viola are short on striking options having sold Giovanni Simeone to Cagliari before the start of the season, then seeing big summer signing Franck Ribery ruled out until March having undergone ankle surgery.
