Chelsea receive huge boost in their pursuit of ace German marksman

Chelsea look to be in pole-position to land German ace Timo Werner following the RB Leipzig frontman’s admission that playing in the Premier League does appeal to him.

Having had their transfer embargo lifted, the West London side are looking to add to their squad, but coach Frank Lampard will have to wait until the summer to bring the 23-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

In an interview with German newspaper Bild, Werner, who is also being courted by Real Madrid, admitted that; “The Premier League is certainly the most interesting league, you have to say. There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.”

Real are reportedly willing to spend £68M to try to lure Werner to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and the player, whose already scored 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season, has kept the door open to a possible move to Spain by declaring that; “Many Germans have also been very successful in Spain, such as Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil.”

Chelsea would ideally like to get the deal done this month but Leipzig, who are battling to win their first ever German league title, have made it clear that their prize-asset is going nowhere until the end of the current campaign.
