Chelsea turned down chance to sign South American striker
Chelsea reportedly turned down the chance to sign Salomon Rondon from Dalian Professional before the transfer deadline at the end of January.
The Blues were on the hunt for a new marksman during the winter transfer window with Olivier Giroud being desperate to make the move elsewhere in the bid for regular gametime.
However, that did not happen in the end and that has left Giroud as a frustrated figure, given his present situation could hamper his prospects of making the France squad for Euro 2020.
According to The Telegraph, the west London side had the opportunity to land the services of Rondon on a temporary basis but they turned down the offer from the player's representative.
The Coronavirus epidemic had been one of the reasons behind a number of foreign players pursuing loan deals and Yannick Carrasco and Odion Ighalo were among the high-profile personnel who made the switch to Europe.
Giroud has not played a single minute for the Blues since the close of November. Despite his future being resolved, he was not in the matchday squad for the league clash against Leicester City on Saturday.
