Chelsea want to sign Championship defender?

Chelsea have reportedly earmarked Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson as a probable candidate to strengthen their backline in the summer.

The 22-year-old came on the cusp of sealing a dream move to AC Milan from the Latics last month but the Rossoneri had insufficient time to complete the medical.

As a result, the left-sided defender has rejoined the Championship outfit for the league duties but The Mirror claims that the club will sanction his sale when the transfer window reopens.

Obviously, the Rossoneri will come up with a renewed approach but reports indicate that Frank Lampard's Chelsea could compete with the Milan giants for his signature.

Both Emerson and Marcos Alonso have been tipped to head through the exit door at the end of the season and that could witness the arrival of a new left-back at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester City's Ben Chilwell has been regularly linked with a move to the Blues but it won't come as a surprise, if the club land the signature of Robinson due to Lampard's preference of working with young stars with potential.
