Liverpool ready to make summer move for German star

Liverpool are reportedly keen on beating the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer.

The German has already netted 23 times in the Bundesliga this term and his performances have caught the eye of a number of elite European sides.

Chelsea have been regularly tipped to make an approach for his services but The Athletic claims that the Reds could come up with an offer of their own for the former Stuttgart graduate.

The Reds are expected to be without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane when they report for AFCON duty with their respective nations in January 2021 and Jurgen Klopp is keen on filling that void with at least one quality new signing.

It is unclear whether Werner would be satisfied playing as a regular off the bench when the trio of Roberto Firmino, Mane and Salah are fit and available, and he may take some convincing to join the club during the summer.
