Timo Werner feels proud of Liverpool links
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has said that he is proud to be linked with Liverpool.
The German striker was once again on target last night, helping his side beat Tottenham in the UCL round of 16 first leg.
Werner has called Jurgen Klopp’s side the best club in the world but insisted that he must earn his right to represent them.
"Liverpool is the best team in the world at the moment, and when you're linked with that team it makes me very proud," he told via Goal.com
“But I know that Liverpool play a lot of good players and I have to improve myself to learn much more things to get on this level to play there.”
With last night’s winner, the 23-year-old has now racked up a goal tally of 24 in all competitions for Leipzig this season.
Besides the Reds, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all in the trail of Werner, who reportedly holds a release clause worth £48m.
It was previously said that the Merseyside outfit were leading the race to sign the German forward this summer.
