Liverpool and Chelsea could reportedly compete with Manchester United in the race to sign Gent striker Jonathan David this summer.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye of elite European sides with his impressive run of form in the Jupiler league, where he has contributed 18 goals and eight assists from 25 appearances this season.

According to The Express, both Liverpool and Chelsea are said to have sent their scouts to watch the recent Europa League game between Roma and Gent, where David was on the scoresheet.

The same outlet claims that United have also been keeping tabs on the Canada international in recent months and the Premier League trio could battle it out for the marksman's signature.

David has bagged 37 goals and 15 assists since his breakthrough campaign with Gent last term. He has represented Canada at the senior level on 12 occasions and has fared impressively with 11 goals in the process.

David is currently valued at around £25m but his asking price should rise further with the expected competition from various clubs to land his services this summer.
