Arsenal in the running to sign Newcastle United midfielder
Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff on a free transfer this summer.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a good breakthrough season with the Magpies but he could leave them for free when his contract expires in June.
The likes of West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund have already been credited with an interest and TEAMtalk claims that the Gunners have joined the player's pursuit.
The north London side are aiming to recruit a couple of young players this summer with a long-term project in mind and Longstaff has caught their eye, having scored twice against Manchester United this term.
The midfielder has made seven appearances for the Tyneside outfit in the Premier League but has not been involved in any of the previous five top-flight games for the club.
Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta is understood to be planning a squad overhaul this summer and a number of first-team players are likely to be shown the exit door.
