Arsenal could miss out on the signature of RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano amid the interest from the fresh interest from Barcelona.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the centre-back last summer but they could not meet the £72m valuation set by the Bundesliga outfit.

According to Le10Sport, the north London side are now expected to face stiff competition from the Blaugrana, who are expected to prioritise defensive reinforcements this summer.

It is added that Upamecano has been earmarked as the prime target for manager Quique Setien and the defender could be available for around £50m.

Upamecano has less than 16 months remaining on his Leipzig deal and the Bundesliga outfit are likely to be compelled to sanction his sale unless he agrees on a renewal.

Barcelona currently have three quality centre-backs in Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti in their squad but the latter has been linked with a summer departure.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the World Cup winner in the past but it is unclear whether the duo will revive their pursuit of the ex-Lyon graduate.
