Manchester United have made a fresh contract proposal to Angel Gomes amid the reported interest from league rivals Chelsea.

Gomes, 19, has only a few months remaining on his current deal and he would be free to leave the Red Devils at the end of the campaign.

Of course, the club will be able to command a compensation fee for the training costs for the teenager but they are keen to avoid such a situation.

According to The Sun, the club's hierarchy are in regular contact with the player's agent and they have recently made a fresh contract offer.

Gomes turned down a two-year deal worth £25,000-a-week earlier this year but the club are now willing to offer him an additional 12 months on the new contract with a £30,000 weekly package.

Gomes, who is on the radar of Chelsea and Barcelona, has barely played for the first-team this season and he has been limited to just six appearances under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
