Chelsea want German star to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga?
Chelsea have reportedly been linked with a surprise move for Manuel Neuer from Bayern Munich as they seek to find a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal.
Arrizabalaga has experienced an average season by his standards with the Blues and there have been question marks regarding his shot-stopping and distribution.
As such, he was dropped for six games on the spin earlier this year and SportBild claims that the Blues could replace him between the sticks with Neuer.
Neuer, 34, has been a consistent performer for the German champions over the years but his future remains doubtful amid his reluctance to sign a new contract beyond June 2021.
As a result, Bayern could be tempted to cash in on his services in the summer and reports claim that the Blues are among the admirers of the 2014 World Cup winner.
Prior to the shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Arrizabalaga was able to impress with back-to-back clean sheets against Liverpool and Everton but there are still doubts regarding his future.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is said to have concerns over the Spaniard's ability to play from the back and it remains to be seen whether the board are willing to sanction the arrival of a new goalkeeper.
